Nick Jordan ‘Natural Interaction’
Natural Interaction exhibited by Nick Jordan at HOME gallery in Manchester impressed upon me through the ability to produce an collection of a mixed-media artworks around concepts of land and place, introducing ideas around social and ecological wellbeing simultaneously.
The landscape photographs only initially suggesting at the embedded implications expressed through the body of work as a whole. Visiting this exhibition opened my mind to the range of possibilities when presenting ideas in a multidisciplinary gallery format, with the use of display cabinets, sculpture, sound and video installations as well as the photographic image to encapsulate a broader dynamism in connection to artistic concept.
Featuring films, prints, photographs, paintings and sculptures that draw on Nick Jordan’s collaborations with therapists, genetic counsellors, geneticists, material scientists and ecologists the work ties together the experience of rare health conditions with the configurations found in the natural world.
